VMware Remote Console Plug-in for vCloud Director by VMware, Inc. is a browser-based add-on that provides direct console access to virtual machines hosted in VMware vCloud Director. It lets administrators and authorized users open a VM console from within the vCloud Director interface to view the boot sequence, interact with the guest operating system, and perform installation, troubleshooting, or recovery tasks without requiring network connectivity to the VM.
The plug-in supports full-screen display, precise keyboard and mouse input, and the ability to connect local media, such as CD/DVD drives or ISO images, making it well-suited for OS installs and low-level maintenance. Integrated with vCloud Director’s role-based access controls, it establishes a secure, session-based connection between the client device and the target VM.
Depending on your vCloud Director version and browser, the plug-in may require a small native helper and specific browser compatibility. Newer deployments may instead use the standalone VMware Remote Console application or an HTML5-based console for a plug-in-free experience.
